Children’s participation

We bring together verified good practices, methodologies and tools so that it is easy to find, learn and create change together. Our goal is that every child in Lithuania has a real opportunity to express their opinion and influence decisions that affect them – at school, at municipal level and at national level. On this page you will find information about the Children’s Council, the Children’s Participation Network, child inclusion mechanisms operating in Lithuania, as well as links to resources that help create meaningful, inclusive and safe children’s participation.

Children’s Council

The Children’s Council is an independent group of children and young people where children’s ideas turn into concrete proposals, recommendations and actions. Members of the Children’s Council raise topics themselves, take part in discussions, learn to formulate recommendations and contribute to communication for children in child-friendly language, so that more children know about their right to participate and how to exercise it.

Children’s Participation Network

The Children’s Participation Network is a national network bringing together organisations, institutions and professionals working on child inclusion and participation. The aim of the cluster is to strengthen cooperation, share good practice and ensure that children’s voices are heard at both local and national levels. Within the cluster we develop common directions, discuss practical challenges, share methodologies and resources, and maintain links with European initiatives, including the EU Children’s Participation Platform (EU CPP), so that Lithuanian experiences are visible and international learning is strengthened.

If your organisation would like to join the cluster or learn more, please email us at: ieva.malickaite@savethechildren.org.

In this map/database we present organisations and initiatives that, in practice, create opportunities for children to participate: from activities for children and child-led initiatives to systematic involvement of children in decision-making.
